    Job description
    About NZero:

NZero is an energy intelligence platform that helps organizations better manage and reduce energy costs. We deliver granular, 24/7 data on energy use, cost, and emissions, paired with analytics, reporting, and planning tools that allow leaders to identify inefficiencies and control spend. Our hourly tracking and forecasting capabilities help customers understand energy drivers, manage risk, and make more predictable, financially informed decisions across their operations.

    The Opportunity:

NZero operates a cloud-native infrastructure that supports always-on, data-intensive workloads. As our first dedicated Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the reliability, security, and scalability of this environment, enabling product and engineering teams to move quickly without sacrificing stability. This role sits at the core of how our platform runs in production and how it evolves over time.

    What You’ll Do:
    • Design, provision and harden AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
    • Extend CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions to build, test and publish Docker images, then promote releases through staging.
    • Implement observability and on-call SLOs to achieve ≥ 99.9 % platform uptime.
    • Continuously improve security posture: IAM least-privilege, Vault secrets management, automated patching, threat-model reviews.
    • Partner with Data & Application Engineers to shape architecture decisions, capacity plans and cost-optimization strategies.
    What You’ll Bring:
    • 4+ years of experience operating production systems on AWS.
    • Deep knowledge of Terraform (or Pulumi/CDK) and Infrastructure-as-Code best practices. Hands-on expertise with Docker and at least one container scheduler (Nomad, Kubernetes, ECS).
    • Proficiency with GitHub Actions (or similar) for multi-stage CI/CD.
    • Solid understanding of Linux, networking, TLS, and security fundamentals.
    • Ability to debug distributed systems—logs, traces, and metrics fluency.
    Bonus Points:
    • HashiCorp Certified: Nomad/Consul/Vault or AWS Solutions Architect.
    • Experience running service meshes (Consul Connect, Istio) or API gateways (Envoy).
    • Background in SRE disciplines—error budgets, chaos engineering.
    • Passion for climate tech or energy analytics (we love when infra meets impact!).
    Why NZero:
    • Mission with measurable impact – your work keeps the data flowing that helps customers cut carbon, not just count it.
    • Remote-first, people-first culture with flexible hours and generous PTO.
    • Competitive salary, meaningful equity, and full health benefits.
    • A fast-moving team that values diversity, transparency and inclusive problem-solving.

Our hourly tracking and forecasting capabilities help customers understand energy drivers, manage risk, and make more predictable, financially informed decisions across their operations.

    The Opportunity:

As an Integrations Engineer, you will broaden and strengthen the data inputs that power our platform. You’ll build and automate ingestion pipelines that pull electricity, gas, water, fleettelematics, and other operational data from utilities and third-party systems into NZero in real-time.

    What You’ll Do:
    • Design, build, and maintain reliable data integrations that connect external systems to NZero’s platform.
    • Develop cloud-native ingestion services in Python running on our integration framework.
    • Create alerting, logging, and observability dashboards to ensure data quality and 99.9 % uptime.
    • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Customer Success to prioritize integrations that unlock new customer value.
    • Champion secure coding practices and CI/CD automation across the integrations stack.
    What You’ll Bring:
    • 3 + years professional Python development experience.
    • Deep understanding of networking protocols, HTTP, and modern API auth (OAuth 2.0, JWT).
    • Proven skill with browser-automation frameworks (Playwright, Puppeteer, or Selenium).
    • Comfort analyzing obfuscated JavaScript and reproducing undocumented API requests.
    • Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Temporal, Celery) and event-driven workflows.
    • Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
    • Experience with web-scraping and structured data capture
    • Eagerness to incorporate AI assistance into software development lifecycle
    Bonus Points:
    • Large-scale web-scraping or structured-data capture in regulated environments.
    • Experience with dbt, Spark, or streaming platforms (Kafka).
    • Enthusiasm for AI-assisted development (e.g., GPT APIs, Copilot).
    • Passion for sustainability, cleantech, or energy analytics
    Why NZero:
    • Mission with impact – your code helps organizations worldwide cut carbon, not just count it. “We’re not a carbon-accounting company; we’re a climate-accountability company.”
    • Remote-first, people-first culture with flexible hours and generous PTO.
    • A collaborative, fast-moving team that celebrates diverse perspectives and inclusive problem-solving.
